JOY’S REVIEW

WRETCHES AND JABBERES:  is a heartfelt documentary about two friends who are autistic the self named wretches who travel the world to communicate with the verbal world, the jabberers; and the only way they really can communicate is through their typewriters. This is a hard go, it’s hard to watch and on the other hand, it is extraordinary in making you understand that we do judge books by their cover and how much we are dependent on language to communicate, verbalize, and what happens when you’re stuck in your own body. So, as a story about what autism is or isn’t, I thought it was fascinating and gets a lot of stars. As an entertainment, it’s very difficult to go through. So, I think you’re going to be on your own about this. For information, I would give it, probably, four stars. For entertainment, probably none. So, depending on how you feel about autism, it is certainly worth seeing. It’s just hard going. so maybe one star
