What To Expect When You’re Expecting
What To Expect When You’re Expecting has a coterie of attractive actresses, including Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez, Elizabeth Banks, Anna Kendrick, and Brooklyn Decker who actually sort of steals the movie out from underneath everybody. The idea is that Elizabeth runs a breast-feeding store and is supposed to be a keynote speaker at the Pregnancy Convention. Jennifer is adopting. Cameron is a reality trainer who gets pregnant with her dance partner on Dancing With the Stars. Anna gets accidentally pregnant the first time she has kind of a run in, it’s not even a date, a hook-up with her old high school boyfriend who stood her up at the prom. And Brooklyn is Elizabeth Bank’s mother-in-law, believe it or not, because of Elizabeth’s husband’s father, who’s played by Dennis Quaid, and they’re pregnant with twins. All, the actresses are adorable and cute, and this has actually got a lot more emotion in it than you would think. It also really does cover all the fears and competition and realities and possibilities of pregnancy, including miscarriage. I really liked this movie. The boys’ club encompassing fathers that walk in the park with their kids and chat about fatherhood is an added spice, including Chris Rock. I give it three and a half stars.
