W – Movie Review

Oliver Stone’s biographical take on the life of George W. Bush, one of the most controversial, secretive, cynical and ruthless presidents in USA history, chronicling from 1967 to his wild and carefree days in college, to his military service, to his governorship of Texas and oil businesses, leading to his 2000 candidacy for president, his first turbulent four years to his 2004 re-election campaign.

“The line was around the block for the screening of this Oliver Stone movie. Stone has made a biopic of George W. Bush starring Josh Brolin who was brilliant, Richard Dreyfus who plays Cheney, and Elizabeth Banks who plays Laura Bush. The casting is brilliant. Would I have missed this movie? not on your life. Will it be around at Oscar time? Definitely not. It is quite a long movie teetering between satire and political commentary. Though it is worth seeing because it’s entertaining, it’s not a very good movie. The movie needed to be more vicious, smarter, or shorter.”
