Director (s):
Leigh Silverman
Sutton Foster, Emerson Steele, Ben Davis

Violet was originally done in 1997, and then was done for one night as encores. This one stars Sutton Foster as Violet, the title character, who has a scar and views herself as ugly and goes through life feeling strongly about it. young Violet is played by Emerson Steele who is wonderful. To be quite honest, I’m not a big fan of Sutton Foster in the past, she always seems to play the same part, but in this production, she is extraordinary. She does it without makeup, and all her intelligence, she has a wonderful voice, and I think she is more charismatic in this than anything else I’ve seen her in. The rest of the cast is equally impressive, its got energy, its got pathos, its got charm, its got romance, this what you go to the theater for. It is probably the only show I’ve seen in years where you can understand every single lyric, this one is not to be missed, 5 stars.
