A man awakens from a coma, only to discover that someone has taken on his identity and that no one, (not even his wife), believes him. With the help of a young woman, he sets out to prove who he is.
Unknown is somewhat of a preposterous tale of a man who wakes up after a car accident in Berlin to discover that his wife doesn’t know who he is. The reason this is kind of a fun movie because it stars Liam Nieson, who is the thinking persons’ action hero not to mention sex symbol, and I absolutely concur. Because he’s such a good actor, making him Jason Bourne or whatever, is such a good idea. His wife is played by January Jones, and could she be any more vapid, maybe not. His supposed replacement is Aidan Quinn. Quinn is also a terrific actor. So all in all, this is a bit preposterous but has some twists in it — it’s great fun. I’d sort of say it’s a popcorn movie, but it is in a cold time of year, so let’s make it a popsicle movie. Think I just made up a whole new term. It’s fun to watch and if you sort of park your brain and your willing suspension of disbelief at the door, you’ll have a great time. So, I give it three and a half stars.
