JOY’S REVIEW

Mickey Rourke got beat out by Sean Penn for the oscar, and literally gets beat up on film. He won a BAFTA, and had great fun at the Golden Globes. If you love Mickey Rourke,(who doesn’t love Mickey Rourke?) it’s the comeback story of the generation, he becomes the 1980’s wrestler, complete with gold hair and the ultimate hard bod. His face says it all, he’s been there, done it, and paid the price for it. However he’s resilant, he’s unwilling to give up whether it comes to his enstranged daughter, or Marissa Tomei, who plays his stripper girlfriend, who he has to pay for affection and sex. He decides that he needs one more comeback, no matter how battered and bruised he is, and he’s willing to risk everything for it. How can you not love this story? I don’t think if Mickey Rourke had not been it it that it would have gotten any attention, it resonated, and if you haven’t seen it, I think you will really enjoy it. RENT IT! Five Stars.
