The Umbilical Brothers
The Umbilical Brothers – Movie Review
Pure theatre and pure fun!!!!
If you loved Thwack, you’ll love “Speed Mouse” at the Joyce Theatre. This is “The Umbilical Brothers”, who are not actually brothers, but they could be –in that they share the same whacked out sensitibilities. They’re very good at sound effects and mime, and, to be quite honest, I actually liked Thwack better because it had skits in it. This is the guys kind of messing around on stage. The tickets run between $19 and $49, so it’s relatively affordable by New York standards. And if you have a 10 year old who loves making noises, they will just laugh themselves silly. They’re very talented. They’re fun to watch. The show could probably be tightened it up a little bit and maybe taken 10 minutes out, but they are so charming and so charismatic, and some of the stuff is genuinely funny. The middle got a little soggy and maybe a little saggy, but three stars going to the Umbilical Brothers in Speed Mouse.
