The Two Escobars – Movie Review

An investigation reveals organized crime’s involvement in sports in Colombia.

“The Two Escobars” was done by ESPN, which is probably not the company you would expect to do a geo-political documentary, but they did a terrific job on this. The two Escobars we’re looking at are are Pablo Escobar. and Andres Escobar.  Pablo we know as the drug king pin in Colombia heading the Medellín Cartel and was responsible for many deaths, and probably the downfall of the Colombian judicial system.  Andres Escobar is a member of the Colombian soccer team, which was ranked 4th in the world at some point. How these two Escobars connect is what this documentary is all about.  It’s absolutely fascinating to see two vastly different worlds come together and create a relationship that is both disturbing and alluring. I’m not going to tell you how it’s all drawn together, but at the end you’ll understand the relationship between the two Escobars, other than the obvious. You’ve got to see this because I bet you will really learn something.  Four and a half stars.
