When Steve Coogan is asked by The Observer to tour the country’s finest restaurants, he envisions it as the perfect getaway with his beautiful girlfriend. But, when she backs out on him, he has no one to accompany him but his best friend and source of eternal aggravation, Rob Brydon.
The Trip stars Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon, who revisit their fictionalized roels that we first saw in Tristam Shandy: A Cock and Bull Story. They are two British comedians who decide to take a road trip together and visit all of these fancy restaurants. I mean, I like both of their sense of humors. Clearly, mostly ad-libbed and they do impressions and it is really fun, but it should have been edited. The food also looks terrific. If you love Steve Coogan, Rob Brydon and his man in the box, and who among us does not, and British sense of humor and fabulous looking food, you will enjoy this, but it really should have been shortened. Two and a half stars.
