The Necessities of Life
Set in 1952. An Inuit hunter named Tiivii, who suffers from tuberculosis, ends up in a sanatorium near Quebec City, far from home and his loved ones.
The Necessities of Life is a movie about the Inuits, which are the native population of Alaska. The story revolves around a man named Tiivi who develops tuberculosis and is sent to Quebec City for a cure in 1952. At the time, the medicine is still very primitive. Eventually Tiivi comes to befriend a young Inuit orphan at the hospital. As the viewer you get to see a striking and unique relationship unfold between two strangers from two seperate worlds but whom share a common blood and tribe. It is just a lovely, heartwarming, and well thought out story about human connections between eachother and their roots. The movie can be seen On Demand. I highly recommend. Four stars.
