Arthur Bishop (Jason Statham) is a ‘mechanic’ – an elite assassin with a strict code and unique talent for cleanly eliminating targets.
Mechanic is a re-make of the Charles Bronson, a 1972 movie, that is even more violent than the original which had The in the title while this one doesn’t This one stars Jason Statham who is an elite assassin with a strict code and uses these talents for cleanly eliminating targets. His mentor is Donald Sutherland who’s son is kind of a messed up kid who’s Ben Foster. And Tony Goldman is in this picture. If you know anything about casting you know exactly what’s going to happen. But I’m not going to tell you. This is an entertaining movie. But it’s incredibly violent, like stomach churning violent. Which is probably the reason it will make money. The problem is that it could have been probably as entertaining and as smart without the violence. But the reason it will make all the money, I know, is because of the violence. I would give it a three and a half for entertainment but I would subtract at least a point for the violence because it’s stomach churning. It was filmed in New Orleans, which is part of the point. They wanted the mood and atmosphere. It will keep you entertained and it will make a lot of money. I would probably give it two and a half stars because it is entertaining but it is so violent.
