The Joy of Singing
The Joy of Singing – Movie Review
Muriel and Philippe, both secret service agents, form an improbable couple. Their new mission is to get their hands on a USB key hidden by Constance, the widow of a uranium trafficker who has recently been killed. This strange ingénue leads the duo to an opera singing class that is a veritable spy nest. In this spy comedy, vocal chords are set free, bodies let loose, and souls chase one another
THE JOY OF SINGING is sub-titled, and you’re not sure exactly what’s going on at the very beginning. It starts off with a murder, and we’re not sure what’s going on or why it’s going on, and then all of a sudden, we’re at an opera class, and we meet the various people who kind of swirl in and out of taking opera lessons. It turns out that this is actually a murder mystery, but it’s not evident for a long time, and once it is it becomes smart and fun, we get to hear some good voices and some cute faces. This is a really good movie. My concern is that somebody will option it and we’ll end up with Sandra Bullock in it, but hopefully not. Four stars.
