The Joneses – Movie Review
A seemingly perfect family moves into a suburban neighborhood, but when it comes to the truth as to why they’re living there, they don’t exactly come clean with their neighbors.
The Joneses stars David Duchovny, Demi Moore, Gary Cole, and Glenne Headly. It’s a tale that probably could have a little bit more bite to it, but it’s so true to life about reality advertising. It explores the idea of this beautiful couple moving into the perfect neighborhood and the perfect house and them trying to convince other people to buy stuff and how the town reacts. Given the fact that placement is so much a part of every movie and every television show these days, and everything is celebrity endorsed, the story is just very modern and relevant. In fact it’s kind of scary how un-far-fetched the plot is and how it is rather a scathing indictment of a capitalist society. On top of that, it is done in a very entertaining way. Four stars.
