The Eclipse – Movie Review
In a seaside Irish town, a widower sparks with a visiting horror novelist while he also begins to believe he is seeing ghosts.
The Eclipse is a very Irish ghost story and it is beautifully photographed. It has got two very good actors: Ciarin Hinds and also Aidan Quinn. Aidan, I have actually met, and he is even more adorable in person than he is on the screen. The story is about a man raising his two kids, as his wife has died, and there is a literary festival, at which point he meets a kind of an arrogant, famous author, and a woman that both he and the author have a crush on. He also has got a father-in-law that he somewhat neglects who is in a nursing home, and believe it or not there are ghosts involved in all of this. It turns out that the woman author that both of the men have a crush on, has written a book called The Eclipse which is about ghost. I am not sure I exactly see the point of this movie, because it is equal parts love story and ghost story, and things keep jumping out at you about sadness and the Irish countryside. It is a very Irish movie. Two stars.
