The Debt stars Helen Mirren and Tom Wilkinson, Sam Worthington, Jessica Chastain, Morton Csokas and Ciaran Hinds. The story is based on an Israeli novel that deals with three Mossad agents deciding that they’re going to go after the Surgeon of Death from Berkinau during World War II, who performed experiments on Jewish inmates, and how they try and smuggle him out for a trial in Israel, as well as what happens 30 years later. This is actually a very interesting story. It goes on a little bit too long, and one of the problems is that the younger people don’t look at all like the older people, which I suppose we can live with. The ending makes no sense to me whatsoever, but it is always fun to watch Helen and the boys do their thing, although I think she chewed on the scenery a little bit on this one. The younger cast actually did better than the older cast, even though the older cast is significantly better known. I will give it three stars.
