The Day the Earth Stood Still – Movie Review

A renowned scientist finds herself face to face with an alien called Klaatu, who has traveled across the universe to warn of an impending global crisis. She quickly discovers the deadly ramifications of Klaatu’s claim that he is “a friend to earth”. Now she must find a way to convince the entity who was sent to destroy us that mankind is worth saving—but it may be too late.

“Now this is not an Oscar contender—but it is a fun movie. Keanu Reeves plays the alien who comes to Earth to destroy it, Jennifer Connelly plays the scientist who tries to talk him out of it, Kathy Bates plays the only person in charge (after all the bigwigs in Washington leave) as the spokesperson for the President. To be honest I hadn’t seen the 1951 version when it came out (for obvious reasons) and I have yet to see it—but this was a fun movie and I think it worked.”
