The Book of Eli
The Book of Eli – Movie Review
post-apocalyptic tale, in which a lone man fights his way across America in order to protect a sacred book that holds the secrets to saving humankind.
The Book of Eli is from the Hughes Brothers starring their favorite go-to guy, Denzel Washington, who’s everybody’s favorite go-to guy. And, this is kind of The Road part two of post-apocalyptic dreariness, combined with a dollop of Road Warrior and Denzel’s clearly got himself a mission statement here. And, along the way, he runs into the appropriate guys with no teeth and there’s no water. And, things are really pretty rough. This is a really grim movie that has Gary Oldman being the super bad guy, chewing on the scenery, Jennifer Beals as being his blind companion, Zoe Soldana being, I guess, the future of the franchise. I mean Denzel’s wonderful to watch, I just thought it was such a grim movie. I’d give it two stars.
