The Answer Man
The Answer Man – Movie Review
om first-time director John Hindman, comes THE ANSWER MAN, a romantic comedy starring Jeff Daniels, Lauren Graham, and Lou Taylor Pucci. On the even of the 20th anniversary of his still wildly popular book, Arlen is still sought after as the man who has all the answers. Check it out in the theatre this weekend!
“The Answer Man” is a clever, thoughtful movie starring Jeff Daniels, whom I would watch read the phonebook, as a guy who has written a bestseller. Lauren Graham, whom I think Gilmore Girls was her finest moment, plays a chiropractor with a young son. Lou Taylor Pucci , who was in “Thumbsuckers”, a terrific actor, who has just gotten out of rehab, and his father is still an alcoholic. How their lives intersect with one another is the stuff of “The Answer Man”. It’s not a great title. The point is that Jeff Daniels wrote a book called “Me and God” where he purportedly talked with God, and now, because he talked with God, everybody feels he knows the answers to everything and he’s become a recluse. The movie has charm mostly because he’s charming. Three stars.
