Side Effects stars Jude Law as a psychiatrist, Rooney Mara as a patient who comes to him, Channing Tatum as her husband, and Catherine Zeta Jones. The story is that Catherine is a high powered therapist who consults with Jude Law about Rooney who is put on medication, and I guessed the end of this movie, even though it’s supposed to be film noir with many twists and turns. Rooney is going to a party with Channing, the cute face with no neck, and orders a drink. Anyone who is on psycho-tropic medication, especially newly on psych-otropic medication, knows not to take a drink. The idea is that this woman has side effects from the medication and ends up killing her husband. I don’t want to give away too much of the plot, except to say that I guessed every bit of it. I still thought it was kind of a fun movie, and Jude Law is beginning to find his inner actor, as opposed to his pretty boy, as he loses his hair. He’s kind of like Kathleen Turner in so much as she put on weight and became a better and better actress, and as Jude Law loses his looks a little bit, he’s becoming a better and better actor. I kind of liked this, as I said I guessed it, but that’s my job. I think you’ll like it too. Three and a half stars.
