Severed Ways: The Norse Discovery of America
Severed Ways: The Norse Discovery of America – Movie Review
A reality TV director copes with a spoiled celebutante and a show gone haywire when a masked killer starts bumping off the crew in this slasher-movie satire.
Killer Movie is subtitled Fear Reality. I don’t think this movie is going to make anybody fear reality, but they may fear more movies about slashers and impossibly beautiful people who make impossibly bad decisions. As far as I can tell, this was meant to be a satire — hopefully, because it is really silly. In theory, they’re producing a reality TV show, but it turns out that people keep getting killed. Why is it in all these slasher movies that the way people are killed is so phallic. They’re all slashed and poked and impaled. At any rate, when we find out who the real star is, who the real good girl is, and who the real killer is, more importantly, do we care? Okay, it’s silly if you can get beyond the gore of which there is a lot. You might have fun. I actually showed this to a woman friend of mine who’s of a certain age who’s never seen a slashing movie before in her life and she thought it was hilarious and interesting and compelling. So, who am I to judge? Well, I guess it’s my responsibility to judge. It’s not terrible, it’s not fabulous. If you like this kind of thing you may get your jollies with impossibly beautiful people in 91 minutes and impossibly ridiculous and gory situations.
