Salvation Boulevard has a great cast. It’s got Marissa Tomei, Greg Kinnear, Pierce Brosnin, Ed Harris, and Jennifer Connelly. The story is about a preacher who is building an all-Christian community. The movie starts with a debate between somebody who says God exists and somebody who doesn’t. And I’m not giving away much to say that when they have a meeting to discuss a potential book, one of them gets shot and potentially killed, but actually not, and the story goes on from there. It’s not a bad idea for a movie and it’s written by the same guy who did Wag the Dog. I sort of liked it. A lot of people didn’t. As satire, it should have probably been about 15 minutes shorter, but I think Pierce Brosnin chewing on the scenery is kind of fun. I mean, James Bond as an evangelical preacher is kind of fun. Greg Kinnear plays Greg Kinnear, as he always does. Jennifer Connolly plays a born again with hysterical tendencies. I sort of liked this; I would give it three stars.
