Robot and Frank

JOY REVIEW

Robot and Frank stars the great Frank Langella as Frank. Peter Sarsgaard is the voice of the robot, but you don’t know that until the very end. Susan Sarandon plays the librarian, and Liv Tyler plays his estranged daughter. The story is that Frank is a guy living alone who is clearly losing it. It turns out, in his misspent youth, he was actually a second story man; he was a thief. And this sort of deals more with his relationship in his later years with the robot. It’s really sort of a charming look at aging and loss of memory, and friendship and family, and all those kinds of interesting things. It’s very well handled and the acting is terrific. Three stars.
