Ryan Reynolds, Jeff Bridges

Rest in Peace Department stars Ryan Reynolds as a cop who gets gunned down (I won’t tell you the specifics, but if you know anything about casting you’ll be able to spot the villan immediately) and ends up in some kid of purgatory run by Mary Louise Parker. She explains  to him that he can go directly to hell for an eternity or he can be in the RIPD. His partner is Jeff Bridges, who is somehow dressed as Colonel Sanders. They become reluctant partners who chase down the dead in the real world. In the real world, monsters walk among and look like humans, but you can tell they are something rotten because plants die and buildings fall around them. Reynolds and Bridges job is to stop the monsters from completing their task of coming back and taking over the real world. This movie has parts of several different movies put together, but Ryan Reynolds is cute, Jeff Bridges is charismatic, and the movie’s plot is silly enough that it will probably keep you entertained for the 100 minutes that it goes. 3 and a half stars.
