Prince of Persia
Prince of Persia – Movie Review
Based on the video game, which follows an adventurous prince who teams up with a rival princess to stop an angry ruler from unleashing a sandstorm that could destroy the world.
Prince of Persia is from the same people who brought you Pirates of Caribbean. I sort of had fairly low expectations for this. Jake Gyllenhaal is certainly a talented actor and he’s cute and clearly bulked up in all the posters. But my concern was that it was going to be an action park ride, which to an extent to be honest it is. But it’s also great fun, partially because of the great Alfred Molina and Ben Kingsley, both of whom are wonderful actors. Clearly if it worked in the Pirates of the Caribbean on Johnny Depp it can work on everybody and it does believe it or not. Gemma Arterton is certainly very pretty as the mysterious goddess who gets more and more freckled as the movie goes on as she and Jake as the adopted son of the King of Persia race against dark force to safe guard an ancient dagger capable of releasing the Sands of Time a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow it’s possessor to rule the world. Okay the fighting sequences are fun. I mean this is really a Disney movie that is sort of a combination of theme park ride and video game. But I enjoyed it. So I’ll give it three stars.
