Perfect Sense is kind of a sci-fi horror movie that’s set in some distant future where an attractive scientist, who is an epidemiologist (why are they always attractive), is called in to consult on a case where a man first loses his hearing, then becomes violent, and it turns out through the whole movie that people begin gradually to lose all their senses. Then they lose their hearing, and then they lose their sense of taste, and the assumption is that both smell and taste are related and that they’re both chemical. As the pathology progresses, they lose their ability to talk and then they lose their ability to see. I’m not sure whether they lose the ability to touch. Maybe that’s the point is that we never lose the ability to touch. It stars Ewan McGregor as the cook who is kind of a not a very nice person who has a relationship with the epidemiologist and I suppose the ending is that love conquers all, or the sense of touch is the most important I don’t know; it’s a little obscure to me. It’s sort of interesting, but not very entertaining. Two and a half stars.
