Ondine: – Movie Review

The story of an Irish fisherman who discovers a woman in his fishing net who he believes to be a mermaid.

This is the latest from Neil Jordan who does great Irish, including The Crying Game, and Steven Rea is clearly one of the people that he keeps in touch with. This is Colin Farrell who plays Syracuse, who is a fisherman who brings up a woman in his nets and believes that she is a mythical creature, a silkie from the sea. He has a daughter who needs a kidney transplant and is one of the precocious kids that is wise beyond her years. I don’t want to tell you too much about this movie because either you won’t like it from the description or I’ll give away too much, and this is a movie worth seeing. It’s really charming and very moving. Give it four stars.
