Nowhere Boy – Movie Review

SYNOPSIS

As a boy all John Lennon needed was love.

JOY’S REVIEW

Nowhere Boy is Sam Taylor Wood’s debut feature and is about John Lennon’s early childhood. John Lennon is played by Aaron Johnson, who is from Kick Ass and he’s terrific as John Lennon. I don’t want to spoil anything because I really didn’t know until about 45 minutes into the movie that we were really talking about John Lennon. But this is the early years where he was raised by his aunt and didn’t really know who his mom was. It portrays how his aunt and mother got into a major fight over him and the effect it had on him. It’s a really terrific movie, you really care about everybody. Kristen Scott Thomas is fabulous as Mimi, the kind of woman who has a difficult time showing affection and love, but clearly loves him. And Anne Marie Duff, plays his kind of flower child mother who dumps him. This is a really terrific movie. Four and a half stars.
