Mesrine: Killer Instinct (Part 1) – Movie Review

The story of french gangster Jacques Mesrine, before he was called Public Enemy N°1.

‘Mesrine: Killer Instinct (Part One)’ stars Vincent Casell who won the French equivalent of an Oscar, the Cesar, for best actor. It is directed by Jean_Francois Richet who won for best director. This is a terrific story that’s being touted as a French ‘Scarface’. It’s really more than that. In some ways it’s much more brutal, in some ways Al Pacino was at least somewhat charming. And you understand this man and where he came from and this is really movie making at its very best. Okay, okay, it’s subtitled, but live with it folks, grow up. Some of the best movies coming out are in subtitles — not all of them — but this is a wonderful movie. It’s in two parts. So ‘Mesrine: Killer Instinct (Part One)’ for acting, for tension, for plot, for interest, gets five stars.
