Men Who Stare At Goats
Men Who Stare At Goats – Movie Review
A reporter, trying to lose himself in the romance of war after his marriage fails, gets more than he bargains for when he meets a special forces agent who reveals the existence of a secret, psychic military unit whose goal is to end war as we know it. The founder of the unit has gone missing and the trail leads to another psychic soldier who has distorted the mission to serve his own ends
MEN WHO STARE AT GOATS has a great cast — George Clooney, Steven Lang, Jeff Bridges, and Ewan McGregor in it. The idea is that it’s based on the Psychic part of the armed services that basically decided that since the Russians were using ESP in the Eighties that we should compete. The movie is a good idea with I think some genuinely funny things in it. But, it kind of gets away from the premise of it mixes things that are funny and aren’t funny all at the same time, and that doesn’t work very well, especially when you’re talking about Iraq. So, lamentably, there are some problems with it. But having said that, it’s kind of funny and it’s watching the guys interact which is kind of fun. So, it’s a two-star movie.
