Loosies is the story of a guy who seems quite charming, but is kind of a n’er do well, who it turns out that even though he dresses well, to the extent that his parents think he’s a stock broker, he is actually a pickpocket. It turned out the star is both the director and the writer for this, which shows some real talent. We find out through flashbacks how he came to be a pickpocket involved with Vince Gallo and a crooked cop played by Michael Madsen. He also had a one-night stand with a girl three months ago who bumps into him again and the film is kind of the story of what happens. So, Loosie is about fate, love, attraction, redemption, and second chances. It turns out the one-night stand girl’s name is Lucy, and she’s a bartender as well as a poet and an artist. He calls her Loosie and she thinks he’s psychic, but what he’s referring to is wanting cigarettes that are loose and not really caring what they are. It’s actually one of those independent, interesting, offbeat movies that I kind of got into. Three and a half stars.
