Life in a Day
Life In A Day is a joint production between YouTube, Ridley Scott, Tony Scott and National Geographic. The idea is that they put something on YouTube and said, tell us what’s going on in your life on one day, which was July 24, 2010. They asked several questions and they got 80,000 videos sent representing 4,500 hours of various films that were done by mostly amateurs. The thing about it is the stuff that’s the most interesting is really the couples stuff, the kneeling man surprising his girlfriend with a proposal, or a woman of twins being furious with her husband, who is reciting Walt Whitman in front of the camera, because she’s been taking care of the kids all day, or a couple who’s been married for 50 years and renewing their vows. The pictures themselves are interesting, but not as compelling as the mini stories that the people tell. It’s an interesting project. I’m not sure people will actually pay $10.50 to watch. I suspect it will do very well on YouTube and on video. Two and a half stars.
