Life Happens stars Krysten Ritter, Kate Bosworth, Rachel Bilson and Justin Kirk. Krysten also shares a co-writing credit with Kate Coiro, who is also directing it. This is kind of a hip, I guess, modern tale for 30-somethings of two women who are unabashed about their sexuality, end up fighting over a condom and one of them loses and gets pregnant. The issue is how she behaves as a single parent. And it’s fraught with four-letter words and sexy clothes and sexual innuendos. It’s kind of cute. The problem is at the end of the day it’s not clear really what the point is, but maybe movies like this don’t need a point. It’s chick-flicky enough and it’s hip enough that it will probably do some business, and Krysten Ritter has now got a big TV show that’s coming up and the director certainly has some cache. So I’d give it, for what it is, three stars. You’re not going to walk away feeling incredibly happy, but it’s not a terrible way to spend 100 minutes. Three stars.
