Life As We Know It

 Life As We Know It

Two single adults become caregivers to an orphaned girl when their mutual best friends die in an accident

‘Life As We Know It’ is billed as a romantic comedy with Katherine Heigl and Jeff Duhamel, who are fixed up by their best friends and of course hate each other the first time they meet  and then we see them meet several years later. I thought Katherine Heigl and Josh actually did a cute job of this together because you believe their chemistry. They’re both attractive actors. The question is when the couple die what will happen to the child they somehow inherit.  Will they leave their adorable one-year-old to be raised by their two best friends  who are both single, but hate each other? So it all transpires from that. Is there anything surprising here? No. The acting is pretty good and Josh Duhamel steals the movie. But starting the movie with deaht, I think is always a bit chancy. I don’t know why romantic comedies feel that they have to break our heart before they can tickle our funny bone or our romantic bone or whatever it is that they’re tickling. I, for one, find it disturbing to say the least. I wish they hadn’t of done that, but having said that, I enjoyed the movie. Three and a half stars.
