Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole
Soren, a young barn owl, is kidnapped by owls of St. Aggie’s, ostensibly an orphanage, where owlets are brainwashed into becoming soldiers. He and his new friends escape to the island of Ga’Hoole, to assist its noble, wise owls who fight the army being created by the wicked rulers of St. Aggie’s. The film is based on the first three books in the series.
‘Legend of the Guardians’ has got some great animation in it. It’s a story about a community of owls. It’s a little hard to describe; it’s a little hard to follow. The animation of the owls flying is terrific, but it goes on for quite some time and it gets to be a bit much. There’s one fabulous scene with one of the young owls flying into a rainstorm which was absolutely mesmerizing. The problem with this movie is I think it’s going to be too scary for kids, and there’s not enough going on for adults. In addition I couldn never tell the owls from one another. So unfortunately, I’m going to have to give it two stars.
