Land of The Lost
Land of The Lost – Movie Review
Space-time vortexes suck. Will Ferrell stars as has-been scientist Dr. Rick Marshall, sucked into one and spat back through time. Way back. Now, Marshall has no weapons, few skills and questionable smarts to survive in an alternate universe full of marauding dinosaurs and fantastic creatures from beyond our world—a place of spectacular sights and super-scaled comedy known as the Land of the Lost.
Land of the Lost is a remake of the original, which was kind of cheesy to begin with and Will Ferrell doesn’t do a whole lot to uncheesy it. For people who saw the original, they say this is a scene by scene, frame by frame homage to it. I thought the whole thing was kind of stupid except for Matt Lauer who has a real comic flare and is terrific in this movie. Fortunately he bookends it. He’s at the very beginning and the very end of the movie. Is the movie worth seeing? Well probably only if you’re under the age of 10 or a real fan of the original. Even if you’re a real fan of the original, you may prefer the original. Two stars.
