La Soga – Movie Review

A cop works against his country’s corrupt government in order to find justice on a case.

‘La Soga’; The opening sequence tells you everything you need to know about the film. You’ll see beautiful people laughing and smiling and dancing around in fabulous costumes. You’ll also cockfights and the military shooting people complete with bullet perforated bodies. Then you find out about young boy whose father is a butcher. The boy finds out from a friend that his father thinks he’s gay because he can’t kill the pig that his girlfriend has given him. He has to learn to kill a pig, and then his father is brutally murdered by drug dealers. Then we flash forward and backward. There are probably too many picutres of pigs in this. It’s an affecting story of how a man gets corrupted and the acting is terrific. It is very violent. It is also a very interesting film. The guy is too sensitive to kill animals but becomes a butcher to a corrupt regime in cleaning up the undesirable. It’s actually a pretty fascinating film. Four stars.
