Kooza – Theater Review
The new Cirque Du Soleil comes to New York!
Is the latest Cirque du Soleil, which comes every two years to every city. In New York, it’s on Randall’s Island, so it means you either get to take a ferry there or you can go the long way around, underneath the tent. The difficulty with reviewing Cirque du Soleil is that if you’ve seen any of them, and I’ve seen most of them, that they’re wondrous the first time you see them and continue to be fun to watch, but the human body can only do so much, so to a certain extent, and you’ve seen some of this before, contortionism is not my cup of tea to be honest, and a large part of this is about contortionists, but there is also some wonderful balancing acts, some wonderful jugglers. I didn’t like the clowns particularly in this one, and if you don’t like the clowns, you’re going to run into more trouble at Cirque du Soleil. I still miss Bill Erwin from the old days. But there are a couple of acts that are just simply wonderful, including the Wheel of Death, which of course, I loved. So, if you haven’t seen the Cirque du Soleil, you’ll probably give this at least four stars. If you have before, I’d give it three.
