Jekyll and Hyde is a revival of the musical done about eight years ago. This one stars Constantine Maroulis, who was in Rock of Ages, and apparently the change of play has not occurred to him as he is acting in the same exact way. He plays both Jekyll and Hyde, the difference being glasses and a rubber band. The most disconcerting thing is he does a little hop stop after every number and gives a little grin thinking ‘oh gee, didn’t I do a great job?’ With all do respect, he looks cute, especially as Hyde, but he can’t move and he can’t act and does the singing via American Idol, which is “let’s belt, if we get anywhere near the key that’s okay but not necessary.” Lucy is played by Deborah Cox, who was in Aida, who fairs better in the singing department, not a whole lot better in the acting department. With a little more effort this could have been camp. One star
