JAMIE DE ROY AND FRIENDS – Theater Review

 SYNOPSIS

Celebrated cabaret performer Jamie deRoy presents a special evening of her Multi-MAC Award-winning variety show, Jamie de Roy & Friends on Sunday, February 28th at 6pm at the famed New York music room Birdland (315 West 44th Street) with an evening of songs from Academy Award-winning Films.

JOY’S REVIEW

JAMIE DE ROY AND FRIENDS is a friend and does various venues and shows: I reviewed and loved The Gatlin Brothers at the Metropolitan Room. This one was her tribute to the Oscars, which was a bit uneven, very informal, and basically lots of fun. Her stuff really depends on a whole lot of things, but they’re intimate looks at talented people, and for that it’s worth seeing what she does, so check her out at her website. On this one, I’d give it three stars, just because it was wonderful hearing some of the Oscar films, including It’s Cold Out Here for a Pimp. I know, it actually won as Best Song, as opposed to Ebb Tide, which actually won in 1955 against thirteen other great songs; and she has some great memorabilia about the Oscars, especially about the song category. So check her out on her website.
