It’s Complicated – Movie Review

SYNOPSIS

A romantic comedy in which two men vie for the affection of a woman.

JOY’S REVIEW

It’s Complicated is an adult comedy that’s obviously based on some French farce. Starring Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin. Streep, as her most luminous self, is playing a divorced woman with three children and about to be son-in-law who is adorable, by John Krasinski who is turning out to be a lovely comic actor, and Alec Baldin who is her sexy ex who has married a much younger woman with a difficult child. This is a fully realized adult comedy with the two of them on a drunken weekend fall in bed and maybe in love with one another and what happens. Meryl Streep gets to cook again as she did in Julie and Julia and this movie really does cook. The performances are terrific. The story is heartfelt enough, except the children being ridiculously upset with the idea of parental reconciliation didn’t quite ring true, but for most of it its just a charming romp. Four stars.
