Immortals

JOY REVIEW

Immortals is directed by Tarsem Singh and produced by Mark Canton who did 300.  This is in 3D and the idea is that it’s set back before time, when the gods threw and locked out the titans, but king Hyperion, who is played by Mickey Rourke at his most histrionic, and his murderous army are rampaging across Greece, demolishing everything, village after village. We have Theseus, a young stud who’s been trained by an old man who’s played by John Hurt, who is actually, and I’m not giving too much away, the god Zeus in disguise. I thought this was really fun. If you know some Greek legends, it helps a lot, and if you don’t it’s still eye candy. I mean, this is the best art direction of any movie you’ve ever seen and it’s surprisingly fun so I give it three and a half stars.
