I AM NUMBER FOUR
John is an extraordinary teen, masking his true identity and passing as a typical high school student to elude a deadly enemy seeking to destroy him. Three like him have already been killed … he is Number Four.
I Am number Four is one of those movies that I went to having absolutely no expectations. It is a story of a guy from another galaxy far, far away who comes to earth, and there are only nine survivors. He is a high school kid, who is of course, impossibly adorable. Every time one of his fellow brethren dies, he gets a scar. So, we know that he is number four. And, he falls in love with a girl, and I guess the point of this movie is it is hard to fall in love with a girl whose ex-boyfriend is the high school quarterback, because he’s going to beat up on you, not to mention having aliens coming out to grab you. I just thought this was somewhat of a fun movie with some great special effects. And, had sort of — it is not exactly tongue-in-cheek, because it is not quite that funny, but it does have a certain sort of sense of adolescent angst. I thought it was very well done. I’d give it three-and-a-half stars.
