JOY’S REVIEW

So can Harry Potter become a Broadway actor?  Well, he already has, he was in Equus.  But his singing voice, I thought was surprisingly strong and charming.  He doesn’t really dance until the very last scene, I guess because he’s on the stage the entire time, and someone said well he’s no Robert Morse.  But Robert Morse was in his 30s when he did this for the first time, and Danielle Radcliffe is 21.  So let’s cut the kid some slack.  This show will play for a very long time, because teenage girls love it.  The problem with the show is not Daniel Radcliffe, or John Laroquette who plays the Rudy Valle role.  The problem with the show is it’s very dated material and very sexist, and they spent all of their money on Dan and John.  Having said that, it’s cute, it’s charming, you won’t hate yourself for being there, and of course the songs are wonderful, so I’d give it three and a half stars, but I’d give Danielle four.
