HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN
A homeless vigilante blows away crooked cops, pedophile Santas, and other scumbags with his trusty pump-action shotgun.
Hobo with a Gun has an interesting genesis. It won a contest for a fake trailer for the Grindhouse movie that had fake trailers, and this was the Rodriguez, Quentin Tarantino movie which I loathed last year. And so did the public. It made absolutely no money, which proves that there is a god or something, or at least a god of cinema. This was the trailer that won, and it was made for like $150 and cigarette money or something. And then they made it — they talked Rutger Hauer into starring in it for reasons somewhat unknown– I mean he is wonderful. He’s always wonderful to watch, but this is I suppose to be –maybe a comedy, I don’t know what it is, or a satire or something. It’s incredibly bloody, it’s a little bit ghoulish, it’s basically — I think it’s a mess. And it also is very limited. It’s not very long, and they use the same gags three or four times. And the word gag may be the operant number, but it’s just not my kind of movie. So, I’m not going to give it any stars whatsoever. If you like — if the review sounds interesting, go see it. If not, don’t worry.
