Heathers the Musical, this is based on the Wynonna Rider, Christian Slater movie about the three snotty high school girls, who are brought down by Veronica and JD, the loner. This one stars Barrett Wilbert Weed as Veronica, and Ryan McCarten as JD, and they really rock, it really helps you to understand how much talent there really is out there, and why these people are not better known is one of the mysteries of the universe. The first 10 or 15 minutes are adorable, of talking about how miserable it is to be in high school, how terrible it is to be in this particular high school. It was all right on and clever, bouncy lyrics and a talented cast. Then it follows the movie pretty much scene for scene. One of the Heathers is murdered and mayhem follows. The play gets raunchy as well as murderous, the graphic depiction of sex in the lyrics is a little bit off-putting. I think the second act was a little bit better than the first, the whole experience could have been much improved by taking 20 to 25 minutes out of it, but if you are a fan of the movie, you will like the play also, 3.5 stars.
