Heartbreaker (L’arnacoeur) – Movie Review
Alex and his sister run a business designed to break up relationships. They are hired by a rich man to break up the wedding of his daughter. The only problem is that they only have one week to do so.
Heartbreaker is a lovely French film. It’s about a brother and sister and her husband who go around the world helping women to understand if they’re in unhappy relationships. They point out that women’s relationships fall into three categories: those who are happy, those who are unhappy and know it, and those who are unhappy and don’t know it. And so they’re job is to go help women understand through the art of seduction, when they’re unhappy and they don’t know it. And this is a really fun and terrific movie. The nice thing about French actors and movie stars is that they can all act as well — and some of them are attractive and sexy, but not necessarily beautiful. This is really a delightful movie that really does sort of grab you. And it is a romantic comedy, but it’s smart and funny and I give it four and a half stars.
