Groovaloo – Theater Review
Created by Bradley Rapier and director Danny Cistone, “Groovaloo” incorporates dance, music and spoken word to recount the true stories of the 14 members of hip-hop troupe the Groovaloos.
Groovaloo is a group of very talented dancers — there are fourteen I believe — who started in Los Angeles and do 90 minutes without an intermission of hip-hop and incredibly energetic personalized dancing. There’s also a voiceover which doesn’t work as well, to be quite honest. It’s somewhat adolescent and somewhat self-serving. But don’t let that in any way deter you from the sheer exuberance, fun and energy of the dancers. It’s really terrific and regardless of what kind of dance you think you like, you’ll love Groovaloo. It’s just a joy.
