Gran Torino – Movie Review
Disgruntled Korean War vet Walt Kowalski sets out to reform his neighbor, a young Hmong teenager, who tried to steal Kowalski’s prized possession: his 1972 Gran Torino.
Clint Eastwood was up for an Oscar for this, now I thought this was ridiculous. I just thought it was terrible; it was like a cartoon of dirty hairy. Now my engineer likes it, but okay, he likes dirty hairy. Anyways, this character is miserable, and actually growls at a point. The story is that he’s a vet, and he has immigrant neighbors that he hates, we’re not sure if they’re Vietnamese, but he doesn’t care, he calls likes to call them the G-word the entire movie. And one of them tries to steal his car, basically it’s a long convoluted story, and he goes berserk at the end. I didn’t like it at all, but a lot of people did. I feel like if Clint wasn’t in it than it wouldn’t have been such a big movie. 2 stars.
