Good Television is great theater. This is a terrific cast headed by Talia Balsam, Jessica Cummings, and Zoe Perry, but everybody here is really good. The weakest part of the play is right at the beginning when John Magaro who plays Clemson, a Meth addict, is recording an audition tape to be on a reality TV show called “Rehabilitation,” although he doesn’t know that and thinks he’s recording it for a documentary to teach other kids about the perils of drug addiction. This is all headed up by his sister, who turns out to be someone who’s both a single parent with two kids and is also dealing with a sick mom. I don’t want to tell you too much about this because I hate it when people spoil the plot, but this is really brilliantly written, brilliantly acted, and it’s something you care about. You’re going to care about the characters, and it’s really theater at its very best. Five stars.
