Get Him to the Greek
Get Him to the Greek – Movie Review
A record company intern (Hill) is hired to accompany out-of-control British rock star Aldous Snow (Brand) to a concert at L.A.’s Greek Theater.
Get Him to the Greek; I thought this was going to be about fraternities. It’s not. It’s about Noah Hill who plays kind of a nerdy guy who works for Sean Combs at a record label. He comes up with this great idea to take an aging rock star who’s been disgraced and do a 10-year retrospective. Sean Combs, who I don’t think is much of an actor, is terrific in this. He may be playing Sean Combs, but he’s still magnetic and charismatic. Noah Hill is sent off to London to collect the terrific Russell Brand, who is also very charismatic. Unfortunately, the movie itself, is pretty stupid. Judd Apatow didn’t actually do it, but he produced it, so it’s got all the vomit jokes and all the bottom jokes and all the crude sophomoric fifth grade humor. But Russell Brand will blow your socks off. He is good looking, he is actually a good actor, does great on the singing. And, he’s hilarious. This is a guy who I think will be onscreen for a long period of time, you just wish that the vehicle was better. So, Russell gets at least three and a half stars. The movie gets one. So, if you’re a Russell Brand fan, then you’ll probably enjoy it. If not, you’re just seeing a really a stupid, unfunny, predictable movie. Two stars overall.
